A Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) is an in-situ treatment technology where a barrier filled with reactive materials is installed in the path of contaminated groundwater. As groundwater flows through the PRB, contaminants are treated or removed by the reactive materials, such as zero-valent iron or activated carbon. PRBs are effective for addressing groundwater contamination and reducing pollutant concentrations over time.
